Invited Sessions bring together researchers, academics, and professionals with recognized expertise to explore a focused topic in Human–Computer Interaction. Invited authors contribute original papers that collectively provide breadth, depth, and different perspectives on the session topic. Invited Papers are submitted under the guidance of the session organizer.
Accepted papers will be:
- published by Springer in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) or Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI) series
- presented at the Conference through a 15-minute presentation, with an additional 5 minutes for question-and-answer period following each presentation, in the context of a 2-hour thematic parallel session
Submit a paper proposal
Prospective authors should submit their proposal, upon invitation from a session organizer.
The process is open until the camera-ready deadline: 29 January 2027
Guidelines for Authors
Full paper submission deadline:
29 January 2027
Full paper length:
Typically 12 pages, but no less than 10 and no more than 20 pages
Author registration deadline:
12 February 2027
Time zone:
All times are in Anywhere on Earth (AoE) time zone.
Have you been invited to contribute?
Invited Papers are submitted as part of an Invited Session organized around a specific HCI research topic.
Session organizers invite 5-6 prospective authors whose research or professional expertise is directly relevant to the scope of the session.
Together, the papers should provide complementary perspectives on the selected topic and contribute to the broader scientific objectives of HCII 2027.
Preparing your contribution
Your session organizer will provide information about:
- the scope and objectives of the invited session;
- whether an 800-word proposal, full paper, or both are required for review;
- intermediate submission and review deadlines;
- feedback from reviewers;
- preparation of the final paper; and
- any session-specific arrangements.
Follow the timetable communicated by your session organizer to ensure that your final paper reaches the Conference Organizers on time for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings.
Peer review
All Invited Papers must successfully complete a peer-review process before they can be accepted for publication.
The session organizer coordinates the review process and communicates the review outcome and any required revisions to authors.
Depending on the arrangements for the invited session, peer review may be carried out on:
- the 800-word abstract proposal;
- the full paper; or
- both the abstract proposal and the full paper
If your proposal is accepted
Authors of accepted proposals will be invited to prepare and submit a camera-ready full paper.
Full paper requirements:
- Full papers are typically 12 pages. They must be at least 10 pages and no more than 20 pages.
- The camera-ready paper must be submitted in an editable source format - LaTeX or Microsoft Word (DOCX) - and PDF format. Authors are strongly encouraged to use LaTeX, particularly for papers containing mathematical notation or complex layouts.
Springer templates and detailed instructions for preparing the camera-ready paper will be provided.
Originality and publication ethics
All submissions must present original work.
A submission must:
- be free from plagiarism;
- not have been previously published in any form or language, as required by Springer; and
- comply with Springer's Book Publishing Policies and code of conduct
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submission satisfies these requirements.
Publication
Before publication, the camera-ready submission of accepted proposals are checked by the Conference Organizers for consistency against the original submissions and the Springer's Book Publishing Policies and code of conduct, with additional processing for formatting purposes.
Correctly submitted and accepted full papers, with a Conference registration associated as required, will be included in the HCII 2027 Conference Proceedings, published by Springer in a multi-volume set.
Registration Regulation
Each accepted invited paper requires one Conference registration for presentation at the Conference and inclusion in the Proceedings.
To provide opportunities for a greater number of participants to present their work, a single author cannot register multiple accepted submissions. Co-authors may appear on more than one paper, but where several papers or posters share co-authors, a different co-author must register for each accepted submission.
For papers, the author registration deadline is 12 February 2027.
The above also applies to papers for oral-only presentation, without a camera-ready submission for the proceedings.
Guidelines for SESSION ORGANIZERS
How to build your session
Session organizers play a central role in shaping the scientific focus of the session and managing the submission and review process. Session organizers are responsible for inviting prospective authors to contribute papers.
Invite academics, researchers, or professionals who:
- have recognized expertise in the field;
- are actively working on the topic addressed by the session; and
- can contribute a perspective that complements the other papers in the session.
Your responsibilities as a session organizer
1. Define the session topic
Establish a clear and focused topic that contributes to the scientific goals of HCII 2027, and directly relevant to the thematic area or affiliated Conference under which your session is organized. The papers within the session should form a coherent thematic group rather than a collection of unrelated contributions.
2. Invite contributors
Identify and invite prospective authors with relevant expertise and acknowledged work in the topic area. A typical Invited Session includes 5–6 paper presentations. Paper presentations are allocated approximately 15 minutes, with an additional 5 minutes for question-and-answer following each presentation.
If session organisers end-up with fewer than 5 presenters, the session may be allocated with other relevant paper presentation(s) received through the regular submission process.
If, on the other hand, more than 6 papers are received for presentation, session organisers are most welcome to consider organizing two sessions.
If session organizers wish to have a co-organizer, they will need to inform by email the Program Administration with his/her full contact details in order to enable access to the CMS.
3. Establish your timetable
Set appropriate intermediate deadlines for:
- receipt of proposals or papers;
- peer review;
- author revisions;
- acceptance decisions;
- preparation of camera-ready papers; and
- final approval.
Your timetable must allow all accepted papers to reach the Conference Organizers by the deadline of 29 January 2027.
4. Coordinate peer review
Organize and monitor the peer-review process for each invited contribution.
Review may be conducted on:
- the 800-word abstract proposal;
- the full paper; or
- both.
For each submission:
- assign at least two independent reviewers;
- invite reviewers using the provided communication template;
- monitor completion of the reviews;
- synthesize the reviewers’ feedback; and
- communicate the review outcome and required revisions to the authors.
Acceptance for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings should take place only following completion of the peer-review process.
5. Guide accepted authors
For accepted contributions:
- notify the authors of acceptance and provide camera-ready preparation instructions (template available through the CMS);
- ensure that the authors upload their final camera-ready files and Copyright Form through the area activated in the CMS; and
- monitor progress toward the final submission deadline.
6. Review and approve final papers
Check each final submission before approving it for publication. Confirm that:
- reviewer comments have been addressed;
- the final paper corresponds to the accepted contribution;
- the paper meets the required length;
- Springer formatting requirements have been followed; and
- all required files have been submitted.
If revisions are still necessary, contact the corresponding author by email and request an updated version, which should be checked again.
Only papers formally approved by the session organizer (by clicking the “Approve” button through the CMS) can proceed to inclusion in the Conference Proceedings.
7. Remind authors to register
Each accepted paper requires an appropriate Conference registration for presentation and publication.
Remind authors to complete their registration by: 12 February 2027
Mode of session operation
When setting up your session, you should select the mode of operation of the session:
- on-line: to be scheduled between 25-27 July, or
- hybrid: to be scheduled between 28-30 July
An invited parallel session may run as a hybrid event, provided that it has at least 4 on-site presentations. For all hybrid sessions, organizers are themselves expected to attend in-person. Conference attendees are welcome to participate either on-site or on-line.
